Asbestos Pipe Removal and Monitoring, Karratha
Location: Karratha, WA
Project Description: Asbestos Pipe Removal, Site Excavation, Clearance and Air Monitoring
Project Details: Hansen Environmental were engaged by a Government utility to design and oversee the remediation of a site where sections of pipe clad in asbestos containing materials (ACM's) were stored.
Hansen Environmental conducted a preliminary investigation of the site which involved sampling and subsequent laboratory analysis to confirm the presence of ACM's. A remediation plan was then devised to thoroughly and safely remove the ACM's from the site.
The remediation process involved removing all ACM's and transporting them from the site for safe disposal.
The topsoil upon which the pipes were stored was removed, and validation soil sampling was conducted to confirm the removal of all residual asbestos fibres in the soil. Air monitoring was conducted throughout the remediation process to monitor public exposure to asbestos fibres.
